Success Talk: Candace Chance

Alexis Rai interviews Candace Chance to discuss her career as an entrepreneur and how she balances her personal + professional success while taking over her hometown one client at a time.

Candace is a Baltimore City native (with Guyanese roots) who spent a decade exploring the dynamics of social & economic ecosystems. She has been developing strategies to serve the development of regenerative and self-determined communities.

Candace founded The V.P.I. Firm, is co-founder and Chief Impact Officer of Momo|Wucha (an equity real estate development firm), and is the creator of Build Beyond the Hustle (bringing strategy, structure, & systems to support BIPOC and women founders) currently in it’s pilot phase.

Candace is the founding Board Chair of B-CIITY (Baltimore City Intergenerational Initiative for Trauma & Youth), a community-managed coalition of over 60 organizations and social enterprises, disseminating over $3.5 million to support community-grown solutions. Other volunteer work includes sitting on the board of Maryland’s 1st Black Arts & Entertainment District in West Baltimore (The Pennsylvania Avenue Black Arts & Entertainment District), advisor for CLLCTIVLY and Project Change Now, and member of the Alumnae & Alumni of Goucher College’s Public Service Award Committee.

This year she was recognized as The Daily Record’s 2021 Leading Women Honoree, a 40 under 40 list recognizing women for exceptional professional experience, community involvement, and commitment to inspiring change.
